You're probably reading this because you're wondering how a black toothpaste can possibly help to whiten your teeth; Beverley Hills Formula have released a new toothpaste which contains charcoal as the active ingredient which is known for its whitening properties. Although it does sound very strange, charcoal has been used as a whitening agent for hundreds of years, allegedly right back to Native Americans and even Hippocrates, and it's perfectly safe.
Beverly Hills Formula Black Whitening Toothpaste* £4.99 Superdrug
On the toothbrush it does look really quite scary, and not something you'd want to put on your teeth but I'd urge you not to let the colour bother you. It doesn't make it taste horrid or feel weird, it's exactly like any other gel toothpaste with regard to how it feels and tastes.
The instructions say to brush your teeth with this for 5 minutes for best results, I don't know many people who have the time to brush their teeth for that length of time twice a day and aside from that I use an electric toothbrush so when I tried for 5 minutes my gums started to really hurt. I have been brushing for 1 to 2 minutes twice every day, which is enough to see some results just not 'best' results. Obviously any home treatment isn't going to give the same results as cosmetic dentistry but I like this toothpaste. It hasn't worked miracles but I never expected it to; t keeps my teeth looking and feeling clean whilst keeping my breath fresh. This is ideal for anyone who is looking to whiten their teeth gradually or help maintain a cosmetic whitening treatment.
